Skye Attractions South Side

Armadale - IV45 8RS - small village for the Ferry to Mallaig on mainland Scotland, Craft Shop, Gift Shop, Cafe, Leather Shop, and Ceramics.

Armadale Castle - IV45 8RS - under 1 mile north of Armadale for the Castle, Gardens, Gift Shop, Large Museum, and Cafe/Diner.

Torabhaig Distillery - IV44 8RE - 4 miles north of Armadale with Tours, Shop, and Cafe.

Attractions by Skye Bridge

Kyle of Lochalsh - IV40 8AE - on the Mainland side of the Skye Bridge for the Kyle Railway Museum

Skye Bridge - IV40 8BH - built in 1995 crossing from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin.

Kyleakin - IV41 8PL - on the Skye side of the Skye Bridge for Glass Bottomed Boat Trips, Castle, and visits to Eilean Ban Island, former home of Robert Maxwell, for the book about Otters, Ring of Bright Water.

North and West of Skye Bridge

Broadford - IV49 9AE - Village 7 miles north of the Skye Bridge with the Isle of Skye Market, and Broadford Hotel where Drambui was developed with the help of Prince Charlie.

Torrin - IV49 9BA - scenic remote area with a Cafe, Loch, and Mountains 6 miles west of Broadford.

Elgol - IV49 9BG - scenic west coast Village for a number of boat trips 14 miles west of Broadford.

Prince Charlie's Cave - about a 1 mile coastal walk south from Elgol at Low Tide.

Spar Cave - IV49 9BQ - under 2 miles south of Elgol at the very small village of Glasnakillie with amazing formations inside at Low Tide.

Central Skye

Sconser - IV48 8TD - small village for the Ferry to Raasay Island where there is a Whisky Distillery and Raasay House for Adventure Holidays.

Sligachan - IV47 8SW - Hotel, Campsite, Old Bridge, Walking and Hiking Routes, Waterfalls. Dipping your face in the water at the Old Bridge for 7 seconds then letting it dry naturally will lead to eternal beauty, allegedly.

Carbost - IV47 8SR - Village 8 miles west of Sligachan with Talisker Whisky Distillery and Boat Trips.

Fairy Pools - IV47 8TA - 11 miles southwest of Sligachan, a number of Pools at the foot of the Cuillin Mountain Range, extremely popular.

Glenbrittle - IV47 8TA - 3 miles south of the Fairy Pools for a Beach, Campsite, Walking Routes, Hiking, and Climbing.

Northwest Dunvegan Area

Neist Point - IV55 8WU - Walk to a Lighthouse out on Rocks, a Top Photo area 32 miles northwest of Sligachan, 32 miles west of Portree, 11 miles out a single lane road from Dunvegan.

Dunvegan - IV55 8WA - Village 30 miles northwest of Sligachan, 21 miles west of Portree, for the 7ft 9in Giant - Andrew MacAskill Museum, Old Schoolhouse Restaurant, Old Bakery, and Seafood Bar at a Car Park across the road from the Giants Museum.

Dunvegan Castle - IV55 8WF - 1 mile north of Dunvegan Village for Castle and Garden visits.

Coral Beach - Map - Top Beach on Skye 5 miles north of Dunvegan past Dunvegan Castle with a Hill for great views and scenic walk north to the Headland. There is a 2 mile walk out to the beach from the car park.

Portree & North Skye

Portree - IV51 9EH - only Town on Skye with Shopping, Restaurants, Bar/Diners, Cinema & Arts, and Boat Trips.

The Storr - IV51 9HX - a Mountain with Pinnacles 7 miles north of Portree on the main A855 coastal road, top photo spot.

Rigg Viewpoint - IV51 9HX - car park with great views 10 miles north of Portree.

Lealt Falls - IV51 9JW - Waterfalls 12 miles north of Portree with a car park.

Brothers Point Walk - Map - short walk to a dramatic headland 13 miles north of Portree with a small roadside car park, also Donosaur Footprints on rocks.

Kilt Rock - IV51 9JE - car park at Cliffs and Waterfalls 15 miles north of Portree where Dinosaur Fossils where found.

Staffin Dinosaur Museum - IV51 9JE - for Dinosaur Fossils a few hundred yards north of Kilt Rock.

Staffin An Corran Beach - IV51 9JT - 3 miles north of Kilt Rock where you can view Three Toe Dinosaur Footprints by the car park at the Beach.

Quiraing, hill circuit - IV51 9LB - car park up in the Hills 23 miles north of Portree for scenic hill walking with great views.

Duntulm Castle - IV51 9UF - MacDonald Castle Ruins 25 miles northwest of Portree, 4 miles round the scenic north coast from the Quiraing, also where huge Round Dinosaur Footprints can be seen on rocks at the beach walking out into the sea, 200 yards south of the Castle car park.

Skye Museum of Island Life - IV51 9UE - for a number of Thatched Cottages showing Croft Life in the 1800s, 21 miles northwest of Portree.

Flora MacDonald's Grave - IV51 9YU - next to the Skye Museum at Kilmuir Graveyard, also with older flat grave slabs, and Alexander McQueen the famous Scottish Designer.

Uig - IV51 9XX - Village 15 miles northwest of Portree for Ferries to the Isle of Harris, Brewery Shop and Pottery.

Rha Waterfalls - IV51 9XP - on the River Rha in Uig where the road north to Staffin begins.

Fairy Glen - IV51 9YG - 1 and a half miles up a country road on the south side of Uig next to the Uig Hotel for unusual scenery.

Kensaleyre Standing Stones - IV51 9XE - two ancient Standing Stones by a Loch that can be seen from the signs at the north end of the small Village of Kensaleyre. There is no parking close to the stones and they are in a cattle field, so not easy to visit, 6 miles northwest of Portree. Best to park at the Church of Scotland in Kensaleyre, then walk on the roadside footpath half of a mile north. Where the roadside path ends, at the Village signs, you will see the Stones down to your left in the Field by the Lochside.
